Bigger Is Sometimes Better: Advantages of a Large Marching Band
Thesis: A large marching band provides a better musical experience for the band
members than a smaller one because of the variety of people to work with, the
great range of instrumentation, and better-organized band programs. [Excerpt
from introduction (thesis and essay map): . . . The importance of aesthetic
education means that no school system should have to settle, say, for a small
marching band. Funds used to build a larger band are well spent when they
provide for more varied players, a broader range of instrumentation, and
better-organized music programs.
Notice that the thesis, with essay
map, as stated at the end of the introduction is rephrased, as it often has to
be to fit smoothly into the text. It
can even be written in the introduction as more than one sentence if necessary.]
