Having taught at Mars Hill College for more than three decades, I am now the senior member of the Department of English. In addition to teaching general education courses in composition and literature, as all my colleagues do, I teach specialized courses in a variety of areas for English majors. I have a special interest in the use of technology in the classroom, and both I and my students have created Web pages on Shakespeare and other topics. I am also involved in a number of research projects that have received grant support and resulted in various publications. My scholarly activity has taken me to several interesting libraries around the world. I have degrees from Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I have won some awards for both my teaching and my scholarship.
